I got interested street art on our around-the-world trip this year. There were some really cool images in Berlin, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires. Since we moved to Los Angeles two months ago I started to see sporadic street art around the city. Last week I found a cool book, Stay Up: Los Angeles Street Art (here’s their Facebook page), and have been eager to get out there and find some art.
Yesterday Michael and I went to Staples to get a desk chair and a nice gentleman told us about a thrift shop that had similar office chairs for just $15. The store was roughly nine miles away through city traffic and I wondered if it was worth the effort. Michael said, let’s give it a go. We found a $15 chair that is in really good condition and just needs a good cleaning (thank you mystery gentleman). On the way back, we passed a building with some neat street art and then another – I scanned the nearby side streets and saw even more. So we found a parking space and took a walk around the Mateo and 7th Street area. Here’s what we saw…
Due to the sun’s position, we couldn’t get a good shot of some art. We didn’t catch the name of every artist. We only walked a two block radius. We were hungry. We didn’t have the good digital camera with us. All great reasons to go back again soon!
